Using oil paint, I strive to capture the form of a body while still encapsulating the lightness that occurs when a figure is in motion. I use bold primary colors softened by transitional hues that overlap and intertwine, creating a pulsing, energetic rhythm across the canvas. Many of my subjects appear as layered or sequential figures, revealing movement over time. These subjects are influenced by dancers and their dedication to moving their bodies to the fullest extent. Not in ways of hypermobility, but a true understanding of the energy and potential behind moving in space. I often paint self-portraits that try to embody this experience of deeply knowing one's physical self aligned with the mental. Displaying such a personally diverse and internal experience onto a canvas excels me to push the boundaries of what I make.
